Main Events
Richard and Scarlet go to Fire Spring to retrieve Scarlet's egg. Richard goes through a long cave to reach it. He gets stuck in a very tight passage and is attacked by something with claws that digs into his leg. He escapes and reaches the egg, but realizes it's too big to carry back through the cave. He uses the bird whistle to create chaos—calling thousands of birds that attack the gars guarding the egg. In the confusion, Richard retrieves the egg. Scarlet arrives and flies him away with the egg. They go to Scarlet's nest high in the mountains, where she places the egg safely. She explains she can heat the rock to keep the egg warm while she's away. They prepare to start searching for Richard's friends.
